I've really considered printing out my writing for the exact reasons you've listed as positives for editing off of a typewriter. I have a Smith-Corona Electra XT laying around, need to get it some ink though.
I miss having a place of my own, nice stereo equipment, records, good headphones. Once upon a time, I was the audiophile I write about here. I was a much more active musician then, too. Lived my days wrapped in music.
I can relate to this situation. I resisted smartphones for the same reason you did, but gave in because of the convenience of having one.

You aren't wrong about MP3s. They sound flat and distorted to me. Almost everything MP3 sounds like it's being played through autotune.
